The work aims to explore digital methods and pathways for traditional hydraulic measuring instruments, achieving effective preservation of hydraulic cultural heritage and transmission of hydraulic cultural values. Relying on historical records and museum artifacts, through the digitized collection and storage, a rich and detailed database was established. Based on traditional hydraulic measuring instruments, and in combination with design characteristics and functional principles of the instruments, new media technology was used to digitally restore traditional hydraulic measuring instruments. Leveraging new media design techniques, various digital presentation schemes were created to showcase the features and historical background of traditional instruments. It achieved the preservation and transmission of traditional hydraulic measuring instruments. Digitally presenting the appearance, structure, and usage of the instruments provided the public with a vivid and intuitive experience. In conclusion, the study provides a practical exploration path and effective digital solution for the protection of hydraulic cultural heritage, achieving the digital display of traditional hydraulic measuring instruments.
