This paper aims to understand the research trends and development trends of traditional textile clothing patterns in recent years, summarize and evaluate the academic research results, and summarize the significance of studying traditional clothing patterns and its enlightenment to modern design. Based on history, social and cultural perspective, arts and design arts perspective combing literature, combined with the existing research and analysis of Chinese traditional costume pattern source and its characteristics, the research focus in the traditional clothing design, the new era of traditional costume design survival strategy, and the application of Chinese traditional costume pattern innovation design field, the results show that the research of traditional costume patterns has rich historical materials and diversified research types. At present, the inheritance and innovation of traditional costume patterns reflect the characteristics of digital development, aesthetic education guidance and policy support. Traditional costume patterns shine brilliantly in costume design, public space, and cultural and creative products. China's traditional textile clothing design research is successful, but the lack of a system as a whole "traditional Chinese textile and apparel design knowledge genealogy" for guiding the research and practice, many study of China's traditional textile clothing design are at the level of empirical analysis and lack of in-depth original theory. Through the review and the value statement, the research deficiency is proposed. At the same time, new ideas for the modern design of Chinese traditional textile and clothing patterns is provided.
