The paper intends to analyze the design of cultural symbols of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games based on the communication characteristics of symbols, and the connotation and visuality of cultural symbols, with the aim of providing useful reference for the design of cultural symbols of future Winter Olympic Games. Based on the theoretical basis of semiotics and cultural symbols, the design concept and design of Beijing Winter Olympic Games cultural symbols are analyzed from the viewpoints of symbolic form and symbolic meaning, signifier and signified, and the meaning of Beijing Winter Olympic Games cultural symbols are derived from their design characteristics. Meanwhile, the cultural symbols of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games are of tremendous cultural transmission value to promote the Chinese cultural value, express profound aesthetic value and unite the social value of Olympic Games. The cultural symbols of Winter Olympic Games are important media for transmitting winter culture and national cultures, and they bridge the communication of world civilization. The design concept of the symbols should carry the connotations of the traditional culture and the design form should focus on innovation and breakthrough, so as to realize the blending with the world culture.
