Abstract

semantics, and specific elements of consumers' preference for the appearance of the dolls. Then we designed Likert questionnaires with Abstract semantics and conducted questionnaire research to obtain the mean value of charm evaluation of mystery boxes. Finally, multiple regression analysis (quantitative type I theory) was conducted to establish a linear relationship between multiple elements and consumers' aesthetic preferences. Using SPSS26.0 for analysis, we got the linear relationship of four types of semantics, namely "healing and warm", "pure and lovely", "cool and stylish", and "funny and quirky" on consumer attractiveness and the significant design elements, respectively. The study shows consumers' aesthetic preferences and attention elements for the mystery boxes' appearance with different semantics. Additionally, it shows the differences in aesthetic preferences for the appearance of the dolls among consumers of various occupations and ages. The research results are informative for the creation of mystery boxes and can also be applied to the products such as small art decorations/creative toys.
