Abstract

In order to block the spread of viruses such as COVID-19, disposable masks have become an essential pandemic-prevention items for the public. However, this kind of mask has some problems, such as waste after use, improper treatment, easy to cause virus diffusion, and environmental pollution. In terms of user experience, the beauty and portability of mask design also need to be considered and the comfort as well as fit felt by users. Through case analysis method, this paper aims to explore the design scheme of disposable mask which can not only make users feel convenient and comfortable, but also protect the environment and reduce waste. By investigating the use and recycling of its users, we select several cases of disposable masks with innovative design and use the constructed AHP judgment matrix to analyze the green design and sustainability of products from the dimensions of product shape, function, material and structure. According to the results of AHP analysis, it shows that the analysis, consideration from the perspective of green life cycle, and reasonable opinions and suggestions can be used as a reference for the innovative design of disposable masks, and provide ideas for the recycling and treatment of discarded disposable masks.
