Abstract

The work aims to review the immersion narratives in digitization of Chinese culture. With the triadic media system consisting of concept, symbol, and context in the unified media theory as a method, the essence of the immersion narratives in Chinese culture was clarified as the transmission of cultural concepts and cultural symbols. Its design core lied in how to realize the creative development and innovative transformation of the symbol of "cultural heritage" in the context of "digitalization". The "digital twin" of natural and cultural heritage in Cyberspace in the form of digital assets was not only the basic premise for the construction of Chinese cultural metaverse, but also the final destination of cultural heritage digitization. The iteration of media technology is prompting cultural heritage to gradually migrate to digital assets; the change of media environment is also prompting design issues such as immersive experience, multimodal interaction, and nonlinear narrative to resurface. Behind all these phenomena, two intertwined laws of media evolution are implied.
