The work aims to explore the basic requirements and development trend of public space for public facilities, and summarize diversified design strategies. Public facilities in different public spaces of cities are a kind of material form closely connected with people, which is the unity of publicity and interaction, and represents the quality of people's real life. From the basic nature and the existence value of public facilities in public space, overall examination was conducted from the holistic perspective. Combined with the actual social development and people's real needs, in-depth internal details of public facilities in public space as well as the design thinking and innovation direction were discussed from different aspects. Finally, with versatility, aesthetic and humanistic characteristics as the support, systematic research and discussion were conducted from different design details and specific methods. The properties of public space are different, and the public facilities in it are also different. In the specific design, we should start from the overall design pursuit and function and follow the requirements of relieving people's mental pressure and adding highlights to the public space, so as to promote the realization of functions in a larger sense.
