ature of Word" and use the "Understanding" word-making method in "The Six Categories of Chinese Characters (SCCC)" and "Compound Font" to explore the connotation of "Ligature of Word" from the perspective of design and the design method of "Ligature of Word" as well as "Compound Font" and "Understanding". Starting from the new concept of "Ligature of Word" in philology, inspired by the "Understanding" word-making method in "SCCC", designed with "Compound Font", for the selected "Ligature of Word" object, through a deep understanding of its meaning and font structure, the creative methods of "deletion of strokes and shared strokes", "changing the structure and thus the meaning" and "unifying the parameters of the typeface" were proposed, and applied to the innovative font design of "Ligature of Word". The conclusion is that the combination of the "Compound Font" and "Understanding" word-making method in "SCCC" plays a very important role in contemporary creative typography. The "Ligature of Word" is not only an interpretation of "SCCC", but also a supplement to "Compound Font" design. It enriches the connotation of "Compound Font" design.
