The work aims to enhance both national cultural charm of cultural and creative products, and the contemporary value of traditional art by exploring the cultural connotation and formal characteristics of traditional art and transforming them into modern cultural and creative design. To this end, literature analysis in folk-art research was conducted to dissect connotative characteristics of traditional art and select enlightening art forms to study. Then, reconstruction method and case analysis were adopted to condense the previously decomposed art elements into the design ideas of human-orientation, simplicity and artistic conception. These ideas were represented by lines, patterns, shapes, colors and other forms and put into actual designs of modern cultural and creative products. With the above methods and steps, this paper finds that cultural and creative design integrated with traditional art can contribute to the modern connotative transformation of traditional art, as well as improve the overall quality of cultural and creative products in formal aesthetics, humanistic spirit and aesthetic conception, promoting a two-way integration of inheritance and innovation to better develop advanced socialist culture.
