Since the design strategy only for the product is increasingly unable to meet the differentiated innovation needs of the home appliance industry, it is necessary for designers to think about the innovative models that are more conducive to enterprise management, brand value and user resonance to meet the market demand. The traditional innovation model framework was comparatively analyzed, the relevant concepts of the meaning innovation model were sorted out, and the production scenarios of product meaning and the empowerment of meaning innovation to home appliances were discussed. Then, the scenario context of home appliance design was clarified, and through the analysis on the three-fold relationship between scenario and meaning, a method was provided for the meaning innovation in home appliance design practice. At the same time, the ability of the home appliance scenario context to stimulate meaning innovation was considered reversely, that was, in the scenario construction, scenario narration, and scenario frame, meaning was generated, developed and described, respectively. Finally, a conceptual model is established in which meaning innovation empowers home appliance scenarios, and home appliance scenarios stimulate meaning innovation. Thus, the design practitioners in the home appliance industry can be guided to use the meaning innovation model to enrich the design content and methods in the home appliance scenarios.
