Surrealist art is unreal and imaginative, and its ideas have always led innovation. Based on the artistic concept of surrealist sculpture, the work aims to study the innovative design of furniture, explore the superior features of surrealism, break the boundaries of furniture design, realize the unity of art and technology, and achieve the integration of function, emotion and culture. Firstly, through qualitative research, the connotation and form of surrealist sculpture were organized to understand the status quo. Then design inspiration was drawn from the appearance and connotation level, and the most representative design element was refined. Third, the technical techniques of surreal sculpture were analyzed by the interdisciplinary research method. Finally, starting from aesthetic function, practical function and emotional function, combined with technical techniques, surrealistic sculpture elements and chair appearance and function were integrated to complete the design practice. The chair design based on surrealist sculpture is not only conducive to breaking the rigid situation of furniture design, providing a new idea for the research of emotional furniture design in China, but also helping Chinese furniture design to explore the tradition and seeking methods for reference in the international market.
