Abstract
The work aims to design with cultural office supplies as the ontology and auspicious symbols as the figurative body from the perspective of symbolic rhetoric by a joint innovation method which combines observation method and feature point enumeration method, to explore new ideas in the field of product design types. The design process was divided into three stages:observation, enumeration and connection. Through literature research, field investigation and other methods, category statistics, induction and classification of metaphor and ontology were carried out, and combined with observation method, text records of auspicious symbols and cultural office supplies were carried out from the three systems of human, machine and environment of ergonomics. Feature point enumeration was used to list the characteristics of the things recorded. Key symbols of things were extracted and targeted combined with five commonly used symbolic rhetoric methods in design:simile, metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche and allegory, and the text writing and symbol connection of the type of symbolic rhetoric were carried out. The design case proves that the joint innovation of the above methods has remarkable operability and application effect, which can help designers select symbols in the classified systematic relationship and assist designers in the innovative design of products.
