The work aims to make a symbolic interpretation of the decorative art characteristics of Sichuan folk furniture, excavate the regional characteristics of Sichuan folk art and culture, provide materials for the innovation of Sichuan folk culture, and promote the inheritance and development of traditional furniture culture. Based on Morris's Semiotics:Syntactics, Semantics and Pragmatics, combined with field research and literature research, the decorative symbols of Sichuan folk furniture materials, colors, patterns, composition and its cultural connotation were analyzed in depth, the context for the formation and development of decorative symbols was summarized, and then the ways of inheritance of Sichuan folk furniture decorative art was summarized. Under the influence of physical geography environment and socio-economic changes, Sichuan folk furniture has formed a decorative language of using local materials and applying techniques according to the specific conditions, and reflects the optimistic attitude towards life and the spirit of openness of Sichuan people. Therefore, achieving the "innovation" of Sichuan folk furniture decoration art during "inheritance of traditions" has important practical value and significance for promoting Sichuan folk culture.
