Abstract

The work aims to simulate the stereoscopic form and color of water by using the similarities in UV resin and water from the innovative perspective of materials and explore the techniques of using UV resin to simulate the form of water and the application of UV resin in design. UV resin characteristics were familiarized through literature review and pre-experiments. By using the method of free modeling, color essence, powder and fabric were added respectively to simulate the stereoscopic form of water. Based on the experimental results, the application of UV resin in design was discussed. The free modeling method of UV resin used in the experiment could simulate the form of water, and in this process, the color of water could be further simulated if color essence and powder were added. On the basis of using UV resin to simulate the water form (such as waves and icicles), texture element (such as blisters and water waves) and color, five different combinations of UV resin and textile were obtained:pleated textile shaped by UV resin or hollow fabric shaped by UV resin, strip fabric, flake fabric and chip fabric filled with UV resin. The UV resin exhibits a three-dimensional and innovative visual effect in design with water as the theme, thereby expanding the application of UV resin in design and offering novel ideas and process skills for related design.
