Giving new artistic conception to Linpan farming culture in western Sichuan with the carrier of signal system is an effective way to display farming culture. With the Linpan signal system in Pidu District, Chengdu as a model, the work aims to promote the integration of industrial transformation and farming culture in the countryside with the opportunity of rural revitalization, to create a signal system that highlights the characteristics of Linpan in western Sichuan. Based on the semantic theory, the design method of the Linpan signal system was analyzed from four dimensions of element symbols:semantics, pragmatics, context and syntactics, and the symbolic system of the signal design was deconstructed with objects, including modeling elements, color and material texture. Meanwhile, combined with the four-dimensional system of “Environment-Landscape-Human-Object”, the Linpan signal system in western Sichuan was constructed. The exterior shape and interior consciousness of Linpan farming culture were ultimately expressed. The aesthetic paradigm memory of farming culture in western Sichuan was evoked by symbolizing the signal system and a designing method of the signal system was established with the characteristics of farming culture symbols. The study will protect and inherit the characteristics of farming culture in western Sichuan, promote the cultural image of Linpan, and expand design ideas of the modern signal system in the countryside.
