Abstract
The work aims to study the visual design norms for barrier-free reading that assist children with amblyopia, so as to solve the reading problems of children with amblyopia due to impaired visual function. By changing the visual design of reading materials, a method is proposed to help children alleviate reading difficulties and improve reading efficiency. Firstly, by adopting the controlled experiment method and changing the visual design form of reading materials, the reading time and preference of amblyopic children were recorded. One-way analysis of variance was used to determine the influence of changes in visual factors on reading speed of amblyopic children. Secondly, according to the reading pain points of amblyopic children, the materials were designed for reading aids, and the feasibility of various auxiliary designs for alleviating the reading pain points of amblyopic children was obtained through the interview method. Finally, based on the previous data analysis and research, the visual design specifications suitable for children with amblyopia were summarized. For the design of reading materials for children with amblyopia, it was recommended to use 22-24 pt bold or italic characters, with a 50-75 word spacing.
