The work aims to systematically present and analyze the research progress of urban furniture from the perspective of regional culture in China in the past 23 years. With the full-text database of China Knowledge Network (CNKI) from 2000 to 2023 as the data source, the bibliometric method and COOC software were used to analyze and visualize the urban furniture research literature. The characteristics and time distribution of the publications, the research hotspots and the evolution of knowledge were analyzed in conjunction with the literature. The total publications under this theme show a steady increase year by year, but the proportion of research is decreasing year by year. The existing research is mainly proposed from macro, meso and micro levels. The functions of traditional urban furniture will be influenced by the intelligent technology boom background to usher in a lot of innovation and implantation. For the future research trend, the research investment will be increased in the functional intelligence, information integration, and positive orientation of urban furniture, and the research will also involve multiple dimensions such as humanistic care, sustainability, and interactivity.
