Abstract
The work aims to explore the optimization and redesign of Man mask patterns from the perspective of user needs, improve the contemporary spirit and functionality of the patterns and make them more favored by users in the new era, and promote the active development and inheritance of Man mask patterns. Firstly, the KANO model was used to classify the attributes of user needs for pattern redesign. Secondly, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was adopted to construct a need hierarchy model, calculate the weight coefficients and priority ranking of each level, and combine need attributes for design strategy analysis. Then, based on the design strategy, a design plan was developed for the cultural connotation, emotional value, and styling characteristics of the pattern. Finally, based on the existing problems, modular methods were introduced to carry out the redesign practice and application of pattern grid form, feature lines, and fill colors, in order to verify the feasibility of the design scheme. As a result, a redesign model integrating KANO model, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and modular methods was used to obtain a set of Man mask redesign patterns that were more popular among users. The strategy analysis from the perspective of user needs and design practice of modular methods further improve the user recognition of the redesign of Man mask patterns, providing a reference for innovative design of Man mask patterns and related traditional patterns.
