Abstract

The work aims to compare the role of visual attention in modulating and influencing the EEG stimulus-evoked responses of Mongolian and Chinese users under conditioned stimuli with different interface layouts. Based on the event-related potential technique of the Oddball experimental paradigm, the influence of interface layout design on the visual attention of Mongolian and Chinese users were investigated by graphic and text-only interface layout stimuli in the form of graphic-format, tabbed, and side-expanded interface layouts in conjunction with the analysis of the EEG data and behavioral data. For the early stage of visual attention, it was found that the graphic-format layout had a significant stimulating and modulating influence on the visual attention of Chinese users, and the graphic format side-expanded layout had a significant stimulating and modulating influence on the visual attention of Mongolian bilingual users. Through the P300 component amplitude, it was found that the mood of the Mongolian and Chinese users changed, the Mongolian and Chinese users in the plain text form of the tabbed layout of the interface had negative mood and the amplitude of the wave decreased. In the event-related potential technique, the change of wave amplitude intensity through the P100 component and P300 component can be used as an observable quantity to measure the comparison of visual attention and emotional experience of users from different ethnic regions under the stimulus condition of interface layout.
