The work aims to explore the process of constructing and deconstructing gender elements in age-friendly design and the design value orientation. Literature research and dialectical theoretical research were used to discuss the theoretical basis, practical needs and design practices of gender elements in age-friendly design. A theoretical model of social gender construction and deconstruction in age-friendly design was constructed. It was demonstrated that design not only had a guiding role in social gender construction, but also showed a function of continuously strengthening social gender construction.Under the trend of "feminization" of population aging, social events such as education, career, and fertility continue to wash out new modes of social development. Lifestyles continue to change, and many health issues in later life are also caused by the crossover of physiological gender and social gender. Therefore, respecting gender, transcending gender, and putting people first should become the value orientation of age-friendly design. It is necessary to pay attention to the diversity within the elderly population, focus on incorporating more heterogeneous elderly samples into the design process, and respect gender, transcend gender, and put people first.
