The work aims to analyze the design research literature based on embodied cognition in China and abroad, to objectively interpret the current situation and research progress of design research under the perspective of embodied cognition, and provide a prospective reference for design practice. Based on the Web of Science and CNKI databases, the design-related literature under the perspective of embodied cognition was taken as the data source. The current status, research hotspots, and development trends of this research were generated through VOSviewer and CiteSpace tools to visualize the knowledge map. Combined with the relevant parameters, a comprehensive analysis was conducted. The results of the bibliometric analysis showed that the annual number of papers published on the integration of embodied cognition and design research in China and abroad is increasing. Research intersects with computer science, engineering, psychology, and education. The United Kingdom is the most contributing country, and Tsinghua University and Research Libraries UK (RLUK) are influential research institutions. According to the summary of keyword clustering analysis, the research is classified into three categories: theory and methods, technical support, and design practice. The overall trend shows the development with gradual refinement from theoretical research to practical application.
