Abstract

The work aims to explore design strategies for parent-child family museum visits from the perspective of parent-child interaction, providing design inspiration for designers and museum curators. Taking the Dinosaur Exhibition Hall of Anji Museum, Zhejiang Museum of Natural History as an example, the parent-child family visit process was observed and the relevant data were recorded. Qualitative analysis and quantitative description were conducted on the observation data with statistical methods. Through the analysis of observation data on parent-child family museum visits and in combination with exhibition and experience design methods, the design strategies for parent-child family museum visit experiences were proposed from four dimensions of spatial layout and visit route, exhibit appearance and interactive technology, display form and content, exhibit relevance and accessibility. These design strategies were then applied to the design practice of the Dinosaur Exhibition Hall of Anji Museum, Zhejiang Museum of Natural History. Exploring the visit experience from the perspective of parent-child interaction can effectively help researchers gain insight into the interaction and communication during the visit process, providing important theoretical support and practical guidance for the implementation of parent-child activities and exhibition design in museums, and promoting immersive and efficient parent-child family museum visits.
