Interactive Wayfinding Design Principles in Smart Transportation Scenarios

Abstract

The work aims to explore the principles for interactive way-finding design in smart transportation scenarios and study how to flexibly use multimodal means and interactive design methods to enhance the efficiency and adaptability of way-finding systems, thereby improving the user's travel experience. Through literature review and case analysis, the main development trends, existing problems, and major challenges faced by designers in the practical application of smart way-finding design were meticulously collated and summarized. The current interactive way-finding design was characterized by multi-channel application, multi-terminal fusion and diversified modes, and these changes made the way-finding design go beyond the traditional static dispersed form and present a composite form supported by multiple dimensions. Thus, the designers were required to update and adjust their design principles to meet new demands. The principles and suggestions of interactive way-finding design suitable for the smart transportation environment are proposed, including establishing more systematic way-finding information, creating consistent user experiences, and providing rich information forms.
