Abstract

As a new type of tourism activity, city walk is attracting increasing attention and participation. Guidance systems play a crucial role in tourism activities, but those applied in traditional tourism may not be suitable for the city walk experience. It is essential to develop guidance system design strategies tailored to the characteristics of city walk activities. Based on the characteristics of city walk and experience needs of tourists, strategies for designing guidance systems for city walks were derived from aspects of routes, signage, information, and overall experience in combination with universal design strategies of urban guidance systems. These strategies were then applied in the city walk activity "Leisurely Stroll along the Central Axis". Through case studies, the conclusion is drawn that the functionality of a mobile-based guidance system for city walk extends beyond assisting in reaching destinations. It should also provide rich cultural information and enjoyable experiences, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the pleasure of city walk and the cultural charm of the city.
