Design of Community Fire Safety Sign Based on Hierarchical Analysis of Residents' Needs

Abstract

Community fire safety signs play a crucial role in enhancing residents' awareness and response capabilities regarding fire safety. The work aims to design an easily understandable, highly practical, and multi-sensory integrated fire safety sign based on the actual needs of residents. Existing issues were identified by referencing the current state of community fire safety signs and conducting surveys to analyze the interactions between community residents and fire safety signs. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) were used to extract key factors that community residents considered important in fire safety signs and apply these findings to product design. The main design elements for community fire safety signs were simplicity and clarity, multi-sensory integration, environmentally friendly materials, and stable and accurate graphics. These elements were used as the basis for the design study. The study discusses and examines the usage issues of community fire safety signs. Integrating the analysis results of community residents' needs into the design practice of fire safety signs can create signs that better meet the needs of community residents, thereby improving the practicality of the signs and the residents' acceptance of safety information.
