Abstract
Nowadays, the elderly are not willing to use rehabilitation robots. In review of this situation, the work aims to deeply explore the motivations behind the elderly's use of rehabilitation robots and put forward several design suggestions to effectively promote the elderly's motivation. A total of 339 valid questionnaires were collected from the elderly as the survey subjects. Based on Technology Acceptance Model and other theoretical models, a motivation model for the elderly to use rehabilitation robots was constructed from three aspects:technology and product, user experience and social relationship. The different motivations for using rehabilitation robots were further compared and analyzed from the perspective of user personality. Perceived usefulness, self-value perception, perceived fun, social influence and convenient conditions to establish social connections with others were the main motivations affecting the elderly's continued use of rehabilitation robots. For the elderly with high openness, perceived usefulness and self-value perception had a greater impact on improving their continued use intention. For the elderly with low openness, social influence had a greater impact. For the elderly with high neuroticism, perceived trust had a greater impact on improving their continued use intention. For the elderly with low neuroticism, perceived usefulness and self-value perception had a greater impact. For the elderly with high conscientiousness, improving perceived ease of use and reducing perceived trust and convenience conditions had a greater impact on improving their willingness to continue using. For the elderly with low conscientiousness, perceived trust and convenience conditions had a greater impact. In conclusion, improving the willingness of the elderly to use rehabilitation robots lies in both technical innovation and fully understanding of the elderly's motivations to use them. Therefore, proposing personalized design suggestions to stimulate the elderly's willingness to continue using rehabilitation training robots is significant. It is meaningful for improving the quality of life of the elderly.
