Abstract
The work aims to explore the application and design method of embodied cognitive theory in sensory integration training products for children with autism. Firstly, the relationship between sensory integration training and embodied cognitive theory in autistic children was analyzed from the two aspects of five perceptual characteristics and behavioral action characteristics. Secondly, the current situation of sensory integration training products was sorted out, the importance of embodied cognitive theory for sensory integration training in autistic children was analyzed. Finally, the design guidance for sensory integration training products for autistic children was provided from the micro, meso and macro levels of the embodied cognitive theory. Therefrom, a design strategy of unique sensory integration training products for children with autism based on embodied cognition was obtained. Namely, follow unique cognitive preferences and grasp the key points of perception at the micro level; pay attention to the principle of sensory integration training and adapt to special growth needs at the meso level; and create familiar elements in the environment, and expand home-school collaboration mode at the macro level. The application of the embodied cognitive theory to the design of sensory integration training products for children with autism can optimize the training experience, enhance the training effect, and fully express the function and value of sensory integration training products for children with autism.
