Folk artefacts winding plate is one of the necessary tools for doing needlework, and is also an important physical carrier of Chinese excellent traditional culture. The work aims to mine the visual performance advantages of cultural factors in the winding plate, and design modern furniture that gathers cultural connotations and aesthetic styles. Firstly, the patterns of winding plates were classified and analyzed through topological semantics to extract the stylistic imagery characteristics of patterns, and determine the imagery vocabulary that represents the cultural connotation for the calculation of the degree of superiority; Secondly, an eye movement test was used to analyse the user's visual preference of patterns, and to quantify the consumer's perceptual cognition; Thirdly, the cultural elements were extracted and the design factor map was set up; Finally, the reorganization and interpretation of the design elements were carried out through the topology to re-create the expression and apply them to the design of new Chinese furniture. The design of cultural feature extraction and application based on topological semantics and eye movement test can help furniture designers to select design factors that meet users' aesthetic preferences, get rid of the artificial extraction method of single subjective experience, improve users' visual experience, and help users deepen their recognition and inheritance of folk artefacts culture.
