Abstract

The work aims to study how to enhance the usability and ease of use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) based on the FBM behavior model to increase the usage and success rate among rescuers, thus providing greater survival opportunities for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients. Through in-depth analysis of user experience behaviors, the pain points experienced by rescuers during the rescue process were explored and summarized. Based on the FBM behavior model, the willingness of rescuers was enhanced, the target behaviors of rescue were simplified, and different prompts were given based on differences in motivation and ability, thus investigating design strategies for AEDs under persuasive design in terms of motivation, ability, and trigger mechanisms. By applying persuasive strategies, the functionality of AEDs was planned, enabling non-professionals to correctly and effectively use AEDs in emergency situations to rescue cardiac arrest patients. The FBM behavior model provides an effective method guide for enhancing the usability and ease of use of AEDs, thereby increasing pre-hospital resuscitation rates and improving patient outcomes.
