The work aims to construct the utilization and design method of industrial facility elements from the perspective of collective memory, explore the design path for protection and reuse of industrial facilities based on collective memory, explain the value of cultural heritage, complete the identification and extraction of memory elements of cultural heritage, implant memory elements into the reuse of industrial facilities, create past life scenes of industrial cultural heritage, and ultimately reshape the collective cultural memory of industry. Through investigation and analysis of relevant basic data, memory cognition of cultural heritage was formed, memory elements were extracted and transformed, memory elements were combined with scenes of industrial facilities, and protection and reuse of industrial facilities were designed and studied from two perspectives of material and non-material memory elements. As a result, utilization and design methods of industrial facility elements were constructed from the perspective of collective memory. A sense of local belonging and cultural identity was established. The value of industrial cultural heritage, cohesion and inheritance was completed, and the reshaping and continuation of collective memory were realized. In conclusion, the purpose of the research on the protection and reuse of industrial facilities is to use collective memory to guide the reuse design of industrial facilities, complete the design implantation of memory elements into industrial facilities, achieve the form reconstruction and functional implantation of cultural heritage, optimize the layout of the factory, revitalize the vitality of the factory, and finally build local identity and complete the memory reshaping. It provides a research perspective for the protection and reuse of industrial facilities.
