Abstract

The work aims to explore the regional cultural style and ethnic handicraft wisdom contained in the traditional craftsmanship of Alxa camel saddle cloth "tuochan". The research was conducted by placing the Alxa camel saddle cloth "tuochan" in an ecological environment and combining it with field investigations and site visits. It thoroughly discussed the selection of materials, structural forms, and riding operation from three aspects, and systematically examined the design concepts and object characteristics of its quality and texture, craft production, structure connection and component assembly, as well as riding posture and load transportation. Through the exploration of historical origin and craft production, it was known that Alxa camel saddle cloth "tuochan" was an ingenious integration of local natural materials and the exquisite skills of Alxa craftsmen, interpreting the dual benefits of adapting to ecological laws and facilitating production and life with its own structure. In conclusion, as an exemplary representative of traditional nomadic seating furniture in northern China, Alxa camel saddle cloth "tuochan" aims to inherit and promote its outstanding construction concept, while promoting the harmony and unity between traditional seat, modern seat technology and art with its innovative design ideas and methods
