Abstract
The work aims to design and develop a smart sanitary ware specially tailored for reclining people, especially the elderly with Alzheimer's disease who need to stay in bed for a long time. The method of historical literature review was used to systematically review and analyze the historical evolution relationship between ancient "urinal" and modern sanitary ware, especially focusing on the shape change of ancient sanitary ware "Huzi" and the social and cultural factors behind it. Then, combined with the physiological characteristics of patients with Alzheimer's disease, such as cognitive function decline, mobility difficulties, etc., the specific requirements of these characteristics for sanitary ware design were deeply analyzed. Combining the design wisdom of ancient sanitary ware with modern ergonomics and product design theory, the key structural features suitable for modern reclining people were extracted. On this basis, a set of need hierarchy model based on the toilet behavior of patients with Alzheimer's was constructed, which covered the basic physiological needs, developmental needs, and closely related physical environment (such as the size, material and easy cleaning of sanitary ware) and social environment (such as privacy protection and ease of operation). By drawing inspiration from traditional arts and crafts, an innovative simulation design method based on the integration of historical wisdom and modern science and technology is proposed. Through this method, the study not only verifies the feasibility of the designed smart sanitary ware, but also demonstrates its significant advantages in improving the quality of life of reclining people. This study not only provides a new development idea for the innovative design of similar products, but also provides a useful reference for the future research in the fields of smart home and medical auxiliary equipment.
