In the process of Chinese-style modernization, cultural exchanges and integration have become increasingly close. The work aims to discuss how to integrate Western theories and methods with China's internationalization of industrial design by studying the different Chinese and Western industrial design history and provide guidance for inheriting Chinese civilization to obtain a higher level of promotion and innovation. Through comparative analysis method, case method and literature method, it was concluded that the mainstream thoughts of Chinese industrial design history were influenced by excellent traditional Chinese culture theories such as "making tools by observing images of natural beings", "harmony between man and nature" and "praying for the elimination of disasters". At the same time, it was also influenced by the western industrial design theory and method of "eastward transmission of western sciences". There was a certain deviation from the Chinese local culture in terms of aesthetic concept, artistic creation paradigm and design orientation, so it was necessary to absorb the classic STS and ANT scripts and domestication theory and method in the western design history, to provide scientific and advanced methods for correctly guiding China's industrial design towards the inheritance of Chinese classic traditional culture and the demand for innovation in the new era. From the perspective of design, the change recognition of industrial design theory and method in the process of Chinese modernization, the adaption to change of inheriting the appearance form of local industrial design products and the change seeking of product function upgrading were summarized. For the innovation path of the integration of Chinese and Western industrial design, the design connotation of "life artistic conception", the design technology of "production efficiency", the humanistic care of "life tradition" and other concrete design strategies were put forward. Chinese industrial design needs to draw their own essence from the comparison of theories and methods of industrial design between China and the West, inherit the excellent traditional cultural connotation of Chinese industrial design from the strategy of "recognizing change, adapting to change and seeking change", and absorb scientific theories and methods of western industrial design in a comprehensive way. It provides some support for "Chinese industrial design" to build strong cultural confidence and cultural innovation ability, and finally realize the effect of Chinese design to the world for generous display.
