Abstract

Public cultural services in smart cities have emerged as a new direction for future urban planning. Science and information technology can be used to create a more scientific, efficient, intelligent, and low-carbon urban ecosystem that serves to enhance human life. A well-developed public cultural ecosystem is a crucial goal within smart city development. The work aims to explore the intrinsic relationship between science, technology, and art (STA) and the construction of public cultural services in smart cities, the ways STA empowers the development of public culture in smart cities, and the relevant theoretical foundations. This paper employed an interdisciplinary and cross-field research perspective to clarify the connotations of the STA ecosystem, STA, and public cultural services in smart cities, as well as the theoretical foundations for STA to facilitate the construction of public cultural services in smart cities. Furthermore, methods such as literature review, image analysis, case comparisons, and cultural materialism theory were utilized to demonstrate the advantages and innovative pathways of integrating STA into the construction of public cultural services in smart cities. In conclusion, to better facilitate the integration of STA and the construction of public cultural services in smart cities, it is essential to have a more comprehensive understanding of the connotations and visual advantages of STA, its cross-border integration characteristics, strong interactivity, broader and farther dissemination capabilities, and other strengths. Efforts should be made to actively extract new artistic elements from STA and integrate them into the construction of public cultural services in smart cities. The practical aspects of STA should be explored and embodied, and the best integration points should be identified based on the needs of public cultural service construction in smart cities.
