Abstract
The work aims to explore the impact of visual depth cues on the aesthetic perception of virtual reality menu interface layout through the time-frequency characteristics of EEG signals. From the perspective of cognitive load, cognitive neuroaesthetics and physiological data collection methods were used to verify the impact of visual depth cues on the aesthetic perception of virtual reality menu interface layout through AB comparison experiments. A time-frequency analysis was conducted on the task-state EEG data of subjects performing the same interactive task in two groups of experiments. The neural oscillation rhythms in θ, α, and β frequency bands were used as EEG analysis indicators, and the subjects were compared through a paired sample t test analysis to determine whether there were statistical differences in the time-frequency characteristics of EEG signals between the two groups of different interface layouts. As a results, in the experiment on the layout of the virtual reality menu interface that incorporated visual depth cues, the subjects found that the average power of θ frequency band in the prefrontal lobe area (FP1, FP2 electrodes), the α frequency band in the occipital lobe area (PO7, PO8 electrodes), and the β frequency band in the parietal lobe area (P3, PZ, and P4 electrodes) was significantly lower than the average power of the same brain area in the web-based virtual reality menu interface layout experiment (P<0.05). In conclusion, the reduction in the average power of related brain areas in the θ, α, and β frequency bands may be due to the reduced cognitive load of VR menu interface layout incorporating visual depth cues.
