Abstract
Digital experience of cultural heritage is a design activity that enhances the public service experience with the digital technology in the display and dissemination of cultural heritage. The work aims to compare, sort out and analyze the current status and paradigms of digital experience design research of cultural heritage in different contexts in China and abroad. Based on the bibliometric method, 476 Chinese documents in CNKI database and 592 English documents in Web of Science database on the theme of "digital experience design of cultural heritage" were used as research objects, and CiteSpace software was used to visualize and analyze them in terms of the number of publications, research hotspots, research development paths and research paradigms. Research in Chinese contexts started a little later than that in English contexts, but the number of both Chinese and foreign research literature is growing. The similarity of research hotspots between Chinese and foreign contexts lies in the fact that the overall research hotspot focuses on experience design practice, and the research methodology emphasizes interdisciplinary research. The differences in the research hotspots are that in the Chinese context, the research atmosphere of the integration of travel and tourism is more prominent under the influence of policies; while in the foreign context, under the influence of the cultural characteristics of diversity and freedom, the design of a wider range of target audiences and interdisciplinary research across humanities and disciplines are more abundant. In terms of research paradigm, the Chinese context focuses on proposing conservation and development strategies, while the English context not only focuses on design practice and digital tool development, but also emphasizes post-design and post-development validation and evaluation to form a more rigorous research path.
