Abstract

The work aims to rely on the concept of cultural genes, explore the dissemination methods of material cultural heritage, assist in the active inheritance of the Panlong City Ruins, and enhance people's attention and sense of identity towards the Panlong City Ruins. By exploring the definition, research review, and classification of cultural genes, and with the Panlong City Ruins discovered during the "14th Five Year Plan period" in Wuhan, Hubei Province as an example, the cultural genes of the Panlong City Ruins were extracted, and a cultural gene lineage map of Panlongcheng was constructed. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used for cultural gene evaluation. The theory of cultural genes was effectively applied to extract and evaluate the cultural genes of the Panlong City Ruins so as to provide a basis for the design of information charts for the Panlong City Ruins. The cultural gene extraction method and information chart design proposed in the conclusion can help the public quickly understand the site and participate in the inheritance of the site culture. The combination of the two not only provides reference for the dissemination and promotion of other sites, but also puts forward prospects for the future development direction of cultural heritage promotion.
