The work aims to study the current situation, characteristics, and inheritance methods of Buyi wax printing in Shitouzhai, Zhenning County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, which is known as the "hometown of Buyi wax printing art" and provides a new path for the protection and inheritance of traditional intangible cultural heritage such as Buyi wax printing in Shitouzhai, create conditions for the modernization transformation of traditional culture, and make intangible cultural heritage shine more brilliantly in the new era. Case studies, literature research, field research and other methods were mainly adopted to study the current situation, characteristics and inheritance methods of Buyi wax printing in Shitouzhai, and the inheritance path was explored and implemented through digital protection. With the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, the market space for traditional handicrafts was constantly compressed, and the interest and participation of the younger generation in wax printing skills gradually decreased. In addition, the serious problem of aging inheritors posed a risk of breaking the inheritance chain of wax printing skills. In the future, the cooperation among the government, enterprises, universities, and various sectors of society should be further strengthened to jointly promote the widespread application of digital technology in the protection of intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, attention should be paid to the overall protection of cultural ecology to ensure the development of intangible cultural heritage skills in inheritance and the innovation in development.
