Abstract
Community public space is a key carrier linking residents and communities and also an important place to showcase the image of the city and social equity. The work aims to implement modular design in the micro-renewal of community public spaces to address existing environmental challenges in old communities and explore new approaches for spatial revitalization and regional regeneration. Based on the analysis of the characteristics and needs of community public space and its correlation with modular design, combined with the intrinsic attributes and external forms of community public space, a modular design method for "micro-renewal" of the community public space that was economical, efficient, replicable and sustainable was explored for the existing problems of old communities. A modular design configuration model and fundamental construction methods were put forward to meet the regeneration needs of the community public space. As an innovative approach to urban micro-renewal, modular design effectively adapts to changing residents' needs, enhances the multi-functionality of space, and significantly optimizes resource utilization, construction costs, and maintenance efficiency.
