Abstract

In response to the challenges faced in rescuing individuals contemplating suicide from high-rise buildings, the work aims to develop an emergency rescue equipment design proposal, to meet the demands of complex rescue environments at great heights, thereby minimizing casualties. Through a comprehensive analysis of factors contributing to high-rise building suicides, including psychological and behavioral characteristics of individuals involved, as well as limitations of existing rescue equipment, the direction for designing emergency rescue equipment was identified. By exploring potential rescue requirements based on typical scenarios involving high-rise building suicidal individuals, rescue equipment specifically tailored to their needs were identified. This included the design of window support bars, external rescue nets, three-degree-of-freedom joints, human-computer interaction interfaces, as well as calculation methods for determining the length of window support bars, layout of rescue equipment, and design of rescue nets. In conclusion, the proposed emergency rescue equipment enables swift rescue operations and addresses specific situations such as rescuing individuals holding infants or dealing with violent behaviors. This significantly enhances the efficiency of emergency response efforts and provides a valuable reference for the design of other rescue equipment. By rescuing individuals contemplating suicide from high-rise buildings, this initiative not only showcases our compassion towards vulnerable groups but also underscores our profound respect for human life!
