Product Design of Foshan Intangible Cultural Heritage "Nanhai Rattan Weaving" Furniture Based on FAHP-ZMET

Abstract

The work aims to design a series of furniture image products for the intangible cultural heritage "Nanhai Rattan Weaving" in Foshan, and to propose a design method and process through design, so as to provide a reference for the development of other products. Based on the FAHP-ZMET method, qualitative and quantitative methods were used crosswise for design. Firstly, field investigations were conducted to understand the current situation of the industry. Secondly, AHP was used to clarify the design hierarchy and indicators. Then, the ZMET method was used to explore the local cultural image, and the FAHP method was used for evaluation and screening. After cultural design translation, the excavated and selected cultural elements were innovatively designed. Finally, the FAHP method was used to evaluate the design scheme. As a result, four sets of conceptual relationships were obtained, among which the "Guanyin - Practice - Comfort - Meditation" group had the highest score in terms of conceptual relationships. Based on this cultural image concept, a series of "Nanhai Rattan Weaving" furniture image products were designed and promoted, and design evaluation validation was conducted. A strategy for developing cultural image products was also explored. In conclusion, the research methodology of FAHP-ZMET provides a referable path for developing cultural and creative products. FAHP can solve the problems of design positioning and evaluation, but it is not suitable for exploring local culture, and ZMET can compensate for this. Quantitative methods can avoid subjectivity in the positioning and evaluation stages, but in the visualization stage, it is still inseparable from qualitative analysis and the individual experience of designers.
