Abstract

The work aims to take the Chengdu-Kunming Railway's cultural and creative products as a research object, delve into the design method and process, and propose new ideas for the inheritance and preservation of railway industrial history. The study investigated the generation mechanism of communal memories based on the memory theory. Second, it employed the sensory quality theory method to create a collective memory creation model with four levels:"sensory memory, behavioral memory, emotional memory, and reflective memory". Then, with the Panzhihua section of Chengdu-Kunming Railway as an example, the design factors were extracted by hierarchical analysis. Finally, the research's effectiveness was validated through design practice. It is discovered that the inheritance and protection of railroad industrial heritage is of great significance in carrying forward the national spirit and firm cultural confidence. The cultural and creative design of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway from the perspective of collective memory can assist designers in tapping into users' collective memory needs, helping users understand the history and spiritual connotation of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway, and then realizing users' memory identities.
