Abstract

In order to improve the walking assistance service experience for special groups such as the elderly and those with digital disabilities and lower limb disabilities, the work aims to explore smart technology integration service design strategies from traditional travel scenes to travel assistance scenes. The full-scene behavior tool was introduced to track, summarize and concluded the life behavior of the target elderly group during a week, to reveal the sub-scenes such as "getting lost, transferring during peak hours, digital device operation disability, and seeking help for physical discomfort" faced by the elderly during travel, and the matrix cross-analysis was conducted to the elements at travel space layer and walking assistance behavior layer. Combined with the elements from the digital technology layer such as the metaverse, virtual reality, smart wearables, and AI personalized path recommendation algorithms, high-value walking assistance interaction scenes were generated and a smart walking assistance service design strategy transitioning from the "physical domain-digital domain-emotional domain" was constructed. Then, smart walking assistance service strategies were proposed, including personalized responses and interconnectivity of walking aids, accessibility and precise integration of walking information content, timely and customized recommendations for walking knowledge, and socialization and family-like experience of public transport spaces, and it was recommended to integrate remote family interaction, VR rehabilitation training, virtual travel, and other experiences into walking assistance services to promote physical and mental health. These strategies help guide the close integration of digital technology with the daily travel life of the elderly, enhancing the attractiveness and practicality of walking assistance services, meeting the independent travel needs of special elderly groups, promoting their comprehensive physical, mental, and social development, and providing new insights for the deep integration and innovation of smart technology and elderly-appropriate services.
