Abstract
The work aims to have a quantitative analysis of "Founder Suojing Zhangcao" and "Founder Zhangcao" fonts, find problems existed in their digital application, and propose optimization design strategies. Quantitative analysis methods such as aspect ratio and external rectangle area calculation, center of gravity convergence line drawing, nine-grid analysis and angle measurement were adopted to analyze the glyph characteristics of the two fonts in terms of stylization, strokes, dots and lines, and aesthetics. The two fonts were adjusted in terms of structural proportion, distribution of center of gravity, thickness of strokes, and changes in curvature and straightness, but there were still problems such as lack of standardization. Accordingly, the optimization strategies of junction borrowing method, stroke borrowing method and dot drawing borrowing method were proposed. The Zhangcao font in the font library should strike a balance between functionality and artistry. The perspectives and methods of this study provide useful references for the inheritance and development of Zhangcao art in the digital era.
