The work aims to integrate the emotional design concept into the design innovation of smart applets, and combined with the user research method, to design a smart applet that meets user needs and brings a good use experience. Through the research, the user needs of history tour path class smart applets were summarized, and the user needs were divided into instinctive, behavioural and reflective layers according to the principle of emotional design. The Kano model was used to classify and identify the needs at different levels, clarify the types of user needs, assess the importance of the needs, and conduct preliminary screening of the needs. The QFD model was introduced to ultimately map the needs to the functional elements and the correlation between needs and functions was calculated to derive the functional elements with higher correlation, which were used to guide the design of applets. Based on the results of the joint analysis, a smart applet with good vision and convenient operation was finally designed. The study of emotional design of smart applets based on the Kano-QFD model provides an effective method for the design of such smart applets
