The work aims to explore the current situation and design strategies of public facilities in new rural areas, in order to provide theoretical reference for public facility design in new rural areas, enhance the effectiveness of public facility design in new rural areas, and promote the optimization of public facility design in new rural areas. With the Eastern Henan as an example, the case analysis method was adopted to explore the design status and strategies of public facilities in rural areas. Rural public facilities play an extremely important role in the construction of new rural areas, and have important value for infrastructure construction and spiritual civilization construction. However, there are problems in the design of new rural public facilities, such as a lack of reasonable planning and design, unreasonable design structure, single function, difficulty in playing a role, and lack of regional characteristics. In order to solve these problems, the overall planning of new rural public facility design should be continuously optimized, the local regional characteristics should be fully considered to highlight local cultural connotations, the application of ecological environment should be considered in the design of new rural public facilities and the modular design should be implemented in the design of new rural public facilities.
