Abstract
The work aims to explore adaptive strategies for community-based agricultural elderly care services, informed by urban aging populations' motivations for horticultural engagement and inter-community resource heterogeneity. Based on the survey of the current status of agricultural activities of the elderly in urban communities, the main motivations of agricultural activities of the elderly in the community were extracted. Combined with the resource endowment and agricultural service pain points of typical communities such as newly developed commercial housing communities and old communities in China, the design strategies of elderly care agricultural services in different communities were deduced. Finally, the direction of agricultural services for the elderly in newly developed commercial housing communities in suburban areas, which aimed to meet the consumption needs of healthy agricultural products, and the direction of agricultural services for the elderly in old communities in non-core areas of the city, which aimed to supplement entertainment, were refined. The supply of fresh agricultural products in the newly developed commercial housing communities in suburb areas is optimized by introduction of the community-supported agricultural model. Meanwhile, three membership participation models are provided and the elderly in the community are recruited to participate in agricultural activities. Embedding agricultural companies into old communities in non-core urban areas can contribute to sustainable greening governance and enrich the connotation of home-based elderly care activities for the elderly residents in the community.
