Abstract

The work aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing the elderly's willingness to consume new energy vehicles, and clarify their primary motivations and challenges in this domain. A comprehensive analytical framework was developed by introducing a series of variables based on the C-TAM-TPB model. Samples of 403 individuals aged 55 and above were collected through a questionnaire survey. The sample data were then analyzed using a structural equation model. Factors such as risk perception, environmental awareness, perceived cost, and policy support were found to directly influence the elderly's intention to consume new energy vehicles. While the direct effect of perceived ease of use on behavioral intentions was not significant, it was shown to indirectly promote behavioral intention by reducing the perceived risk. In conclusion, to stimulate the consumption intentions among the elderly, it is crucial to reduce their perceived risk and cost, enhance their environmental awareness, and provide adequate policy support. Additionally, improving the ease of use of new energy vehicles can also indirectly strengthen their behavioral intentions. These findings not only expand the academic application of the behavioral intention theory and the technology acceptance model, but also assist designers, manufacturers, and policymakers in tailoring their strategies to better serve the elderly market segment.
