Visualization Design of Large Woodwork in Dong Folk Houses under the Concept of Cultural Genes

Abstract

The large woodwork in Dong folk houses carries the wisdom of national creation and is an important part of China's excellent traditional culture. Now, due to the fact that the ink masters are facing problems such as fewer team jobs and difficulty in passing on their skills, it is urgent to solve the difficulty in dissemination of the culture of large woodwork. The work aims to form a visualization design scheme through gene extraction, genealogy construction, and design and transformation strategy of the large woodwork culture, which is of great value in expanding its influence. The field method, literature method and empirical method were used to explore the identification of cultural genes of Dong folk houses in the form of large woodwork, and the genealogical network was used to sort out and connect the different cultural genes, and then the corresponding design and transformation were carried out to complete the visualization. The visualization design had the advantages of intuition, systematicity and recordability to show the Dong woodwork skills, promoting the comprehensive dissemination of the material form and cultural connotations of the large woodwork in Dong folk houses. The research has aesthetic and historical value for the inheritance and promotion of Dong woodwork. The digital means can inject new vitality into the modern dissemination of intangible cultural heritage, reduce the difficulty of public awareness of intangible cultural heritage skills, and at the same time, the dissemination of its skills can be realized across places and populations, which is of great significance for the protection and dissemination of the national traditional culture.
