Application Strategy of Traditional Chinese Colors in Cultural and Creative Product Design

Abstract

The work aims to delve into the application strategies of traditional Chinese colors in the design of cultural and creative products, so as to provide a broader range of ideas and rich materials for the color design of these products and enhance their cultural connotations and market competitiveness. Literature review and case study were conducted from an overview of the cultural connotations of traditional Chinese colors and an analysis on their symbolic and metaphorical expressions in modern design. Subsequently, the role of traditional Chinese colors in the design of cultural and creative products and the ways to combine traditional colors with modern aesthetics to achieve modern application and transformation of traditional colors were discussed. In conclusion, to better apply traditional Chinese colors in the design of cultural and creative products, designers should gain a deep understanding of the cultural symbols and national emotions behind the traditional colors. Designers need to learn to use the metaphorical nature of traditional colors, combine them with modern design elements to create products that are both traditionally flavored and in line with modern aesthetics. Moreover, the design should focus on the match between product functionality and color to ensure that color design can enhance the functional value and market appeal of the product. Through these application strategies, traditional Chinese colors can not only provide rich materials and cultural connotations for the design of cultural and creative products but also, in the context of globalization, showcase the unique charm and profound heritage of Chinese culture.
